The East Nimba Nature Reserve Act came into effect on October 10, 2003 and sets aside 33,528 acres of land within the North-Central section of Liberia. The Reserve is managed as a permanent component of the Protected Forest Area Network of Liberia.
The East Nimba Nature Reserve Act gives the metes, bounds and description of the Nature Reserve, which is defined as “an area that does not represent a complete ecological unit, legally set-aside for the preservation and enjoyment of features that have outstanding natural beauty, cultural or biological significance, which may require management intervention”.
