Article 11 of the EU Common Fisheries Policy

Previous laws regulating fishing in European Union waters have been unclear on the process to be followed when a Member State implements European environmental laws that impose restrictions on fishing in marine protected areas, creating an area of uncertainty and, arguably, misinterpretation, as well as a failure to comply with and apply EU environmental law to fishing activities. The new reformed Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) 1 aims to reduce confusion by providing for a specific process, in Article 11, to directly address this.
