How could the EU help to prevent unregulated and unsustainable fishing in the Arctic?

A recent Greenpeace report has highlighted that, due to climate change and subsequent ice-melting, industrial fishing fleets are increasingly operating northward in the Arctic Ocean, in what are some of the Earth’s most pristine waters.

If improved, a proposal from the European Commission on the sustainable management of the Union's external fishing fleet will prevent EU vessels from carrying out unregulated and unsustainable fishing in this fragile area. This legal analysis examines that proposal.
