The report deals with the existing control measures available to Spanish competent authorities to tackle the risk of IUU fishing products entering the Spanish market through intra-EU imports. It concludes that in general, there are not many intra-EU trade control measures for fishery products, particularly those fully obtained or produced in a Member State. However, we have been able to identify certain control measures and to make some recommendations, such as: increasing the number of random sample checks on fishery products or ensuring, on the relation with the fishery products under a “transit procedure” to continue to be applied similar checks to those established for ordinary imports.
