To meet its climate commitments, the EU must involve its people

To meet the Paris Agreement, the EU has set 2030 climate and energy targets, which requires each Member State to prepare a National Energy Climate Plan (NECP) and a Long Term Strategy for 2030 and 2050, respectively. However, the draft plans submitted by Member States are currently coming up short. We believe one of the reasons for this is due to a lack of meaningful public participation in the drafting of the plans. This is not only a lost opportunity to get help from national efforts towards achieving the Paris Agreement's goals - it is also a breach of the law.
